- BOYS BASKETBALL: Fremont Grounds Rockets
By Wade Hilligoss LincolnPrepSports.com It was Hall-of-Fame night at Lincoln Northeast on Friday night, but that was about the only highlight of the boys game as Fremont came to town and rocked the Rockets 60-47. Fremont led 14-10 after the first quarter, but that was as close as it would ever be. A solid shooting night, good bench production, and timely free throw shooting helped Fremont raise their record to 14-4 overall. Junior guard Alex Hamilton led all scorers for Fremont with 14. Junior Braxton Voss came off the bench to add 11, and junior Ian Nick nailed two threes late in the second quarter to bury Lincoln Northeast for good. Turnovers and fouls plagued the Rockets as well, as Fremont found themselves in the bonus at the end of the third quarter. Junior guard Jordan Brown came off the bench to score 10 to lead the Rockets. Junior forward Derek Hoodjer added eight points, and sophomore Jordan Schroer added six. The loss drops Northeast to 5-14 on the season. Next up for Northeast is senior night next Friday night as they host Lincoln Southeast. Fremont will host Saturday night. |
